Hotel rules – For a safe and pleasant stay
Welcome to Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre. To ensure that all guests enjoy a safe and pleasant stay, we kindly ask you and your party to follow these rules.
1. Check-in and Check-out
- Check-in: from 3:00 pm, local time
- Check-out: by10:00 am local time at the latest
- International guests are required to complete registration card in accordance with Swedish law.
- Late check-out may be available subject to availability and an additional charge.
2. Cancellations and Payment
- Cancellation terms vary depending on the type of booking. Please refer to your booking confirmation for details.
- Payment is due at check-in unless otherwise agreed.
- Advance payment or a security deposit may be required.
3. Smoking
- Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor smoking areas. Please refer to the site map.
- These smoking rules apply to cigarettes, e-cigarettes (vapes), and similar products.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the indoor and outdoor areas of Sunderby folkhögskola and the hotel, in accordance with Swedish law.
- A charge of SEK 1,500 will be applied for unauthorised smoking on the premises of Sunderby folkhögskola.
4. Pets
- Pets are not permitted indoors. They may only remain outdoors, and owners must immediately clean up after their pets.
- If a pet has been brought indoors without permission, or it the owner fails to clean up after their pet, the hotel reserves the right to charge SEK 2,500 or higher to cover cleaning and sanitation costs.
- Advance notification is always required for guide dogs.
- Guide dogs are only permitted in designated indoor areas. Please contact Reception for further information.
5. Quiet hours and consideration for others
- Quiet hours apply within the hotel and the area immediately outside between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am local time.
- Please be considerate of other guests when using common areas.
6. Damage and Liability
- If a room is left in a condition requiring sanitation treatment or additional cleaning, we reserve the right to charge SEK 2,500 or higher depending on the amount required to cover the cleaning and sanitation costs.
- Room keys and key cards must be returned upon check-out.
- A charge of SEK 300 will apply for each lost room key or key card.
- The hotel accepts no responsibility for guests’ personal belongings or vehicles brought onto the premises of Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre.
- Threatening behaviour, harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated.
- Guests may not register the hotel as their permanent residential address.
7. Visitors
- Only registered hotel guests are permitted to stay in guest rooms and the hotel’s common areas after 10:00 pm local time.
Common Areas
The Kitchenette is a shared facility for hotel guests located on the second floor. The Lobby is an open area situated at the hotel entrance. The Lounge is an open area located next to Reception.
8. Alcohol and Drugs
- Guests may consume their own alcoholic beverages in their hotel room.
- In all other areas, only alcoholic beverages purchased through Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre’s restaurant or Reception may be handled, consumed, or stored. This also applies to all outdoor areas within the grounds of Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre.
- The use, possession, or handling of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
- The use of nitrous oxide is not permitted on the hotel premises.
- The hotel reserves the right to refuse service to or remove intoxicated guests from the premises.
9. Fire Safety
- Always follow instructions given in the event of a fire alarm.
- An evacuation plan is displayed on the inside of your room door.
- The use of electrical appliances that may present a fire hazard is prohibited.
- Due to the risk of fire, charging hoverboards, e-scooters, drones, or similar rechargeable devices is not permitted within the hotel.
- If you intentionally or negligently trigger a false fire alarm and the emergency services arrive, a charge of SEK 2,500 will apply.
- Electric vehicles and other battery-powered vehicles may only be charged at designated guest parking spaces. Please refer to the site map.
- The use of open flames, candles, electric hot plates, gas stoves, or similar equipment is not permitted in guest rooms or any other area of the hotel.
- To reduce the risk of fire, all personal electrical devices and chargers (including mobile phone chargers and laptop chargers) must be unplugged when leaving your room.
- If our housekeeping staff find that devices or chargers that have been left plugged in, we reserve the right to unplug them.
- Kettles, coffee makers, and other household appliances may not be used in guest rooms.
- Household appliances that are in the Kitchenette must not be removed from the Kitchenette or used in guest rooms.
10. Miscellaneous
- The hotel reserves the right to refuse accomodation to, or remove, guests who fail to comply with the rules.
- The following are not permitted:
- Using Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre’s wifi for illegal activities or in any way compromising the security of our IT systems.
- Moving furniture into or out of guest rooms from other areas of the property.
- Damaging, stealing, or otherwise causing harm to the premises, furniture, fixtures, or fittings of Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre.
- Propping open entrance doors except when loading or unloading personal belongings, or where necessary to facilitate access.
- Guests are responsible for logging out of any services they have used on the hotel television before departure.
11. Housekeeping
- Guest rooms are cleaned after check-out in preparation for the next guest.
- Additional housekeeping services may be requested through Reception, including emptying waste bins and changing towels or bed linen. Requests must be made to Reception by telephone, email, or in person at least 24 hours in advance.
12. Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Monitoring
- CCTV is in operation on the premises, and we comply with all applicable Swedish regulations governing CCTV surveillance.
13. Waste Disposal
- Normal household waste is permitted; however, large quantities or special types of waste are not allowed.
- Guests are asked to dispose of waste in the appropriate designated bins. Recycling facilities for household waste are available in the Kitchenette.
- Bulky waste or hazardous materials (such as gas cylinders) are prohibited.
- Charges may apply for serious misuse of waste disposal facilities, contamination, cleaning, or littering.
14. Criminal Activity
- Any criminal activity committed on the premises of Sunderby Hotel & Conference Centre will be reported to the police.
15. Weapons
- Weapons are not permitted on hotel premises, except in exceptional circumstances where a guest holds a valid hunting licence or is required to carry a service weapon.
- Guests must notify Reception in advance if they intend to bring a weapon onto the premises.
16. Common Areas
- The hotel accepts no responsibility for guests’ personal belongings.
- Guests must not take or consume food, groceries, or breakfast boxes belonging to other guests from the refrigerators or freezers in the Kitchenette. Please note: when breakfast boxes are served in the Kitchenette, each paying guest is entitled to one breakfast box only.
Penalties
Removal from the Hotel
If a guest behaves in a manner that breaches these Hotel Rules, fails to make full payment for their stay, or causes damage to the hotel or its property, the hotel reserves the right to terminate the guest’s stay and/or refuse future bookings.
Charges and Liability
The guest, or the person acting as guarantor for the room, is responsible for any costs and/or damages caused to the hotel or any third party during the stay. Guests are required to compensate the hotel for any property that is damaged, destroyed, or removed without authorisation from the guest room or any other area of the hotel premises.
